A Busy Morning

I'm tellin' ya...
I really try not to clog my blog with nonsense that is beyond my control.
After all, quilts & nature are nice to see & I have gorgeous friends & family.

But, today, I'm addressing corporate waste.
Why, you ask?
Cause it's right in my kitchen.
And on my couch.
(Notice the quilt he is posed upon?
It's one of my firsts!)
Every time Murray's company changes insurance, they send a nurse, TO OUR HOUSE, to check his health.
Really?
An EKG in the family room?
On a perfectly healthy man?
Who is clearly obsessed with his health?
And a drama queen...
A perfectly hearty, health obsessed, histrionic man...
It's a good thing I can find humor in the absurd.

And, by my count, this is the 3rd time.
Although, I believe once this ridiculousness took place in his office.j
Even Alvin was appalled....he had to step outside during the festivities.

Just thinking out loud here...
Do you think if we applied all this wasted money to those who actually need care, we could take care of everyone?
Without government intervention?
Just something for your consideration.
OK... I feel better.
I'm done with this denunciation.

The first thing Murray said when she left, 'We'll call for the results as soon as we can.'
Of course, he did.
He is nothing if not sure of his impending doom.

In other news, the Wild Hogs did thier pre-trip parade around the neighborhood this morning.
I hope blogger will let me post the video.
You can't make this up!
No video...but here's my favorite hog.
And a few others...
Why must those motor bikes be so deafening?
God, I'm bitchy this morning!

Make it a good one.
XO

Fruity

I bought a whole pineapple yesterday.
I just got home from Francis so I cut it up.
I decided to research the health benefits while I snacked on it.
Pineapple is very good for you....
It's a good thing, too.
I ate the whole thing.
Oink Oink

I'm taking Frannie to see Dr Stacy at 3:45.
Fingers crossed....the appointment goes well.
She seems great on these meds...I hope she's handling them alright.

California Dreamin'

Here's something you don't see everyday...
One of my quilts with a binding sewn on.
This little ditty is headed to SoCal to snuggle with Gavin Charles.
I'm glad it's done...I was starting to worry he'd be off to college before I finished it.
I do not enjoy sewing bindings....I need to find a professional binder & hire them!
I know SoCal isn't exactly freezing, but from the looks of it, he could use a quilt.
I crack myself up...
But seriously, how cute is that little punkin?
He belongs to Natalie & Jeff, Natty is a HS friend of my Tootsie.
I washed it to make sure it wouldn't bleed.
Or anything else weird it might do.
Sometimes, quilts can get snarky.
I like the wrinkly goodness you get after washing.
I used organic cotton fabric & organic cotton batt.
Nat told me the nursery was safari theme in shades of beige with pops of blue.
I used poly thread so it would stand up to washings.
Hope they like it!

Finally

It's finished.
I believe this quilt was on the frame longer than the gestational period of most small animals.
King size.
That's a lot of freehand flowers and ribbons.
Glad to be done is an understatement.

I think it will live in the green FL guest room.
Unless I chose to like it in my NY master.
Or something else.
I'm so decisive.

Vermont 2014

My Bubbly met me in Vermont this weekend.
It was a hoot.
We traveled there during high school...
From New Jersey...
On a bus...
And got in all sorts of trouble.
This trip was just as fun.
We've been friends a long time.
This whole math thing stinks...it makes me feel so old.
No wonder I never took to it in school.
(I do like geometry, tho...QUILTS.)
My Bubbly has a contagious giggle.
I love giggling.
Claire was in from California for her summer tour.
Scott & Heidi with my Bubbly.
Patty, J9, Tuna & Claire.
Bruce (or Papa if you're Claire) & Tuna....and me.
I never changed my clothes the while time.
I'm gross.

There was a wild party in the neighborhood that provided us with late night entertainment.
Very late...like 2:30.
Baby Boy lost his phone at a party so we couldn't reach him.
And he was supposed to be taking care of Frannie.
Ugh.
Yeah...I didn't get any sleep.

Murray did all the driving...back & forth.
He golfed with Bruce.
Shocking, I know.
I got a walk in each day...it's beautiful in the mountains.

It was so awesome to be with these guys, even if it was a short trip.
I'm pooped today, but I did manage a walk with Susan & a trip to Wegmans.
And Frannie & Baby Boy are fine.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be more productive.

The Home Stretch

I do love me some freehand quilting with my hair on fire.
This monster is almost done...
I've been hitting it between my globe trotting.
I'm not even minding the slow Quilty pace cause I'm having a blast visiting people I love.

It will definitely be ready to come with me to its new home mid August...
I only have 2 passes left, inspection and she's done.

Trying to decide which to load next is difficult, indeed.
Decisions...decisions.

Old Friends

Are the best kind of friends...
This is Virginia....
We've been friends since Kindergarten.
So, that's like...what?  20 years or so?
Ok...maybe a bit longer than that, but why split hairs?
I drove up to visit her in this cute cottage in Sodus.
That puffball is Bailey...the family cockapoo.
Look at this tree...I also saw an bald eagle.
No pic, tho.
Her hubz & me...
Her son, Jimmy.
HUBBA HUBBA ... Football player with a sweet disposition.
He starts high school this year.
Watch out, ladies!
And her daughter, Angie.
What a doll...I can't even explain the cuteness.
Personality overload...athletic...fake nails...she's a special one.

I loved spending the day with this gorgeous family.
And reconnecting with a dear, old friend.
I vow to make more time for these reunions...it's a gas!

If your day was 1/2 as nice as mine, you were blessed.
