Sisters

My sisters came to meet my Nugget.
First, Mimi & Ms Pat...
When we weren't admiring Sweet Avy, we were overeating, playing cards and laughing.
I talked them into staying weekend to enjoy Balloonfest.
We were Balloonatics!

Then, Patty, Bruce, Jeannine & Claire came to Syracuse.
This was the first time Claire came to my NY house.
I loved having her here.
She was mad for Alvin.
And Alvin was happy to be the object of her affection.

We went to the zoo...
If you ever find yourself in the Cuse, we have a great zoo.

But this was my favorite moment.
Just melted my heart.

Jimmy was home, I enjoyed seeing him visit with them all.
Now that he's an official bartender, the libations are fab!
I'm the luckiest.

I returned to Francis House today.
It was exhausting, but I love my work there.
They welcomed me back so warmly.
It's nice to be missed.

Next up....quilting my #quiltsforpulse project.
But first, a bit of time to recover from all the fun.

Kindness is always the best choice.

Progress

My dear friend, Barb, of IQF Houston fame, is sending me some blocks to use in my #QuiltsforPulse project.
I've decided to wait for them to arrive before proceeding any further.
Here's what I've got so far.

When it comes to quilting, I do not enjoy following others directions.
I like to forge my own path.
But, I must admit, I'm loving working on this quilt.
The lack of creativity is completely overshadowed by the good feeling I'm getting.
There's been so much bad news, this work has been healing.
Every stitch makes me feel a little more hopeful.
Hopeful that this quilt will bring comfort to someone with unimaginable grief
that our society will be more accepting
that my kids & sweet Nugget will live in a better world
We all start out the same, full of innocence and love.
What happens?

Quilts for Pulse

Feeling funky, trying to wrap my mind about the violence in Orlando.
I've been scouring the net, looking for a way to help.
I found it!

The Orlando Modern Quilt Guild is organizing a quilt drive for the victims and thier families.
They are accepting whole quilts made of 10" heart blocks in rainbow colors.
I've made 6 so far.
I hope to make a whole quilt by the deadline.
Of course, I don't know the deadline yet. As va. A

Here's the link, for my Quilty peeps, in case you also want to participate.

If you only want to make blocks, the SFMQG is accepting blocks.
Here's the link for that option.

Quilts are gifts of love, and no one needs it more than these folks.

Kindness...

Nugget

I had a nice visit with my favorite little person yesterday.
Here's a video of one of our chats.

I can't even explain the love I feel for her.
I, like everyone I know, was horrified and feeling yucky over the events in Orlando.
She cheered me up instantly.
How can such evil exist in the same world as such innocence & love?

Kindness people...
We REALLY need it.

More Silk Painting

I took Deb Cribes intermediate class today.
Here's what I made.
I picked up my coneflower painting from last week.
Since I'm heading north soon, Deb will steam and set these dyes and mail me this one.
It's a fun process and there are so many different things to learn.
I really had a great time.

Learning new things!
